If you regularly play fantasy football, then you know running back is often the most in-demand position in the early rounds of the draft. A workhorse running back is a cornerstone of a successful fantasy season because they’re dependable for carries – which means yardage and, most importantly, touchdowns.
In the LFL, the term “workhorse” might not be the best term for the ladies on the field. C’mon, be honest, have you ever heard a lady want to be referred to as a workhorse? Yeah, me neither.
Perhaps we should call them “pretty ponies” or something like that? Well, whatever term we decide to use, there’s little doubt that the top running back coming into the 2011 LFL season is going to be Philadelphia’s Marirose Roach. And once you learn about the season she had last year – there’s little doubt she’s the closest thing the LFL has to Adrian Peterson.
Roach was the 2010 Offensive Player of the Year in the LFL, rushing for 598 yards and scoring 18 TDs on just 70 carries. Add to those numbers her 7 catches for 39 yards and 2 more TDs… and you have a running back who averaged over 8 yards per touch and a TD every four touches during the 2010 campaign.
Yeah, you read that right… a TD every FOUR TIMES she touched the ball!
As a safety on defense, Roach even logged 20 total tackles, including 3 sacks and 5 tackles for loss. See if AP can handle lining up on both sides of the ball and being that productive – even if it is for only 6 games.
Check out Marirose’s vital stats and see 4 more photos after the jump…
